Kathryn "Kay" H. Bentley, 87, of the 100 block of Great Bridge Blvd., formerly of the 1000 block of Vanderploeg Drive, died March 19, 2003. Born April 21, 1915 in The Plains, Va., she was the last of seven children born to the late Forest G. and Ethel Jefferies Hatcher. In 1940, she married Edwin Russell Bentley who lived until 1979. Kay retired from Willis Wayside Furniture in 1972 and moved to Saint Petersburg, Fla. There, she enjoyed nearly 30 years of her favorite sport of fishing, as well as traveling throughout the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Williams and husband, S.L. "Joe" of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Andy Williams and wife, Chrissy, and Julie Bailey and husband, Mike; and four great-grandchildren, Austin, Anna, Michaela and Jamie.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Burial will be private at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Great Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 640 Battlefield Blvd. S., Chesapeake, VA 23322 or to Gideons International, Chesapeake Camp, P.O. Box 1102, Chesapeake, VA 23327.
