A. Howell "Charlie" Belew, 91, was born Aug. 10, 1920 in Kaufman County to Tom L. and Jewel Howell Belew, and died Aug. 26, 2011 in Terrell, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Dorotha "Honey" Belew and brother J.W. Belew.

He is survived by son Donny and wife Helen Belew of Terrell, daughter Donna Orr of Terrell, grandchildren: Charlotte Daniel, Katherine Schutter, Howell Lee Kines, LeaAnn Kines and David Wayne Kines, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by brother T. J. Belew and wife Amy of Tyler, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Howell was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in WW II, was a member of the American Legion and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He retired from Terrell State Hospital in 1985 and was a car salesperson for Buddy Allen Chevrolet and Lewis Chevrolet.

Family will receive visitors Monday, from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the funeral home with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell.
