Elias P. Gerber, son of Peter M. And Elizabeth (Moser) Gerber, was born near Kidron, Ohio, July 17, 1875. He died of a heart attack at his home, Kidron, Feb. 19, 1960; aged 84 y. 7 m. 2 d. On Jan. 18, 1900, he was married to Sarah Sommer, who died March 16, 1914, after the birth of their sixth child. On Oct. 3, 1915, he was married to Fanny V. Lehman, who died May 5, 1953. Surviving are 7 children (Dora Elsie--Mrs. Albert D. Amstutz, Millersburg; Edwin Ira, Bluffton; Lila Marie--Mrs. Otto E. Gerber, Oren Emanuel, Anna Elizabeth--Mrs. Marvin Miller, Melva Mae-- Mrs. Dwight Gerber, and Glenford Nevin, all of Kidron) and 16 grandchildren. Besides his two wives, he was preceded in death by 3 sons and 12 brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Kidron Church, where funeral services were held Feb. 22, in charge of Reuben Hofstetter, William Detweiler, and Isaac Zuercher. Elias P. Gerber, 84, Dies At Kidron, Ohio

Elias P. Gerber, 84, of Kidron, Ohio, an uncle of Gilbert and Ira Gerber of this place, died suddenly of a heart attack last Friday afternoon, according to word received here by the local relatives. Mr. Gerber was a prominent businessman, operating a lumber, hardware and planning and sawmill for nearly forty years. Funeral services were held this afternoon.

Mr. Gerber compiled and wrote an interesting family history of the Gerbers, which was published in 1938 and printed by the Berne Witness Co., under the title "Historical Sketches of Deacon, Michale Gerber, Seven Generations, 1763-1938.".
