Born October 23, 1928, is finally joining her husband Earl Ray Austin and our Heavenly Father for eternity. As she enters the gates of Heaven she is welcomed by her two younger sisters Pat Brock and Joan Gibson, mother Annie , and father Aubrey. Here on Earth she was a loving wife, dedicated mother, caring grandmother, and most of all understanding friend. Her home was always open to her children's and grandchildren's friends. Sallie was the mother who was not just present in her children's lives but also active and attentive in everything that she could be. She served as a Blue Bird Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Youngest son Mark Austin recalls some of his friends beating him home to join Sallie in the kitchen knowing homemade snacks were readily available. Sallie was welcoming to all. If you were to show up on her door step she would help you with your bags. She was a woman of wisdom. Her two hobbies being poetry and photography, she captured moments of people's lives. Anna Austin-Martinez, Sallie's daughter, does not remember a day that her mother did not capture on Kodak film. Everything Sallie did was out of love. Husband Earl Ray was a truck driver who met Sallie while at Detroit High School and later married her June 23, 1951. Their eldest son, Ray Austin, remembers his mother like many others do, "Wise, and compassionate." She was a loving irreplaceable woman. She lives on in the hearts of her son Ray Austin, with his wife Terry and two sons Christopher and Steven Austin, daughter Anna Austin-Martinez and granddaughter Sallie Martinez, son Mark Austin, with his wife Tammy, and in everyone who ever had the privilege to know her. Sallie's greatest achievement was being able to see great granddaughter Abigail Austin and great grandson Cannon Austin come into the house she made a home.
