Mayor of Consolidated Cleveland. Castle and his family moved to the Cleveland area when he was 13 years old. As a young man, he established the first lumber yard in Cleveland along with his father, and Charles Giddings. In 1843, he left the firm and joined with Cuyahoga Steam Furnace Company as it's secretary. In 1853, he was elected mayor of Ohio City, which consolidated with Cleveland during his term in office.
