Linda "Lynn" Beard, 67, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas. Death was unexpected.

She was born Dec. 20, 1943 in Parsons, Kansas, to Ralph F. and Erma Lea (Horn) Carson.

She attended school in Galesburg and graduated from the Galesburg High School in 1961.

On March 13, 1961 she and John E. Beard were married at the Galesburg United Methodist Church. He survives of the home.

She was employed nearly 20 years at the Fred Ronald Manufacturing Co. in Parsons, and for the past 30 years has worked as a receptionist for CST Storage (Tec Tank) in Parsons.

She was an active member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church, and was city clerk for the city council of Galesburg.

She enjoyed raising flowers, collecting dolls and working at her job. She also enjoyed doing ceramics, painting, bowling, and playing bunco. Most of all she loved helping her family and serving others in need.

Survivors include her husband, John Beard, of the home in Galesburg, KS; one son, Frank Beard and wife, Teresa, of Galesburg, KS; two daughters, Wendy Moses and husband, Jerry, of Erie, KS, and Terri Winkler and husband, Ron, of Galesburg, KS; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her mother, Erma Lea Carson, of Parsons, KS.

She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Larry Carson and Dale Carson; and a sister, Victoria Sue Toland.

Funeral will be Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Galesburg, KS.

Memorials are suggested to either the Galesburg Park Fund or the Galesburg Relief Fund. They may be left at or sent to Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
