"Bob" spent his youth at Oregon City, Oregon, and was educated in the public schools of Clackamas County. From December 1937 until January 1941 he served with the Civilian Conservation Corps as an automobile mechanic. In March 1943 he enlisted with the U. S. Army, and until his discharge in March 1946 he served as a crewman with the 28th Tank Battalion in The Philippines. Bob married his first wife, Genevieve Ruth Marx, at Oregon City, Oregon, on March 3, 1943. They had no children, and were divorced in 1947. He later had five children with his second wife, Frankie Conner, whom he married at Vancouver, Washington, on June 21, 1948. The family lived at Milwaukie, Oregon. Bob was a heavy equipment operator in road construction work for a number of years, and he also drove a taxi cab. He and Frankie were divorced in 1970. During his retirement years Bob made his home in Oregon City, Oregon; Gladstone, Oregon; and Portland, Oregon. He died at 62, following a lengthy period of declining health.
