When George Washington made his tour through the South in the 1790's, he visited Martha Watson Watson (later married Jacob Odom) to pay homage to Michael Watson, who was killed in the Rev. War. He gave Mary "Polly" Watson a snuff box given to him by Louis XVI along with a double eagle gold piece. The family story goes that Polly kept saying "yes ma'am" instead of "yes sir". The snuff box is still in the family today.

The Perry Family Cemetery is thought to have 8 to 10 graves. Around 1920, thieves stole the marble tombstones, leaving only the War of 1812 marker and the fence and gate.
