Stage collapse at Fairgrounds kills 5, injures 45 people

During a concert at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, a Severe Thunderstorm blew in and a horrible wind front before the rain came caused the collapse of the rigging which killed 5 people and injured 45 others.

Glenn Gardner Goodrich, 49, of Indianapolis, died August 13, 2011. Glenn was born February 09, 1962 in Detroit, MI to Aubrey and Marilyn (Prust) Goodrich.

Glenn lost his life in the collapse of the Grand Stand Stage at the Indiana State Fair.

Glenn was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Glenn worked as a manufacturing engineer for Ikelite Underwater Systems for the past 23 years. Glenn also had a passion for law enforcement, where he was formerly a Reserve Police Officer for the Cicero Police Department. He was also involved with the former Marion County Sheriff's Department before the merger to IMPD. Glenn was an integral part of E.S.G. Security Co. where he was a part of both the working and supervisory staff. He had a commanding knowledge of the operations of the company which made him a valuable asset to the company. Anyone who ever met Glenn would consider him to be a great friend. Glenn was preceded in death by his brother Grant Goodrich.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Heather Anne (Swearingen) Goodrich and their two sons, Turner Glenn and Cade Edward Goodrich; his parents, Aubrey "Bob" and Marilyn (Prust) Goodrich; sister, Gloria (Tom) Barnes and brother, Greg Goodrich; father-in-law, Larry (Kathy) Swearingen and mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Charles) Dudgeon.
