Services for Everett Laverne Aymond will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son, with Rev. Jim Thomasee and Rev. Paul Roney officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at John Kramer & Son. Everett Laverne Aymond, 78, died at his home surrounded by his family on August 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Laverne graduated from Bolton High School in 1951 and received a football scholarship to McNeese State University, but decided to enter into the United States Marine Corps and go to the Korean Conflict upon his 18th Birthday. After his discharge in 1954 as Corporal, he served in the Marine Reserves until 1959. Laverne received the Navy Occupation, The Korean Service, the United Nations Defense Service, the Good Conduct, and the National Defense Service medals.
After returning home, Laverne married Gay Watson, and went to college with her at Southeastern Louisiana University until she graduated. He then attended Louisiana College until he became a plumber with his father at Aymond & Son Plumbing. In 1968 Laverne formed a successful plumbing and heating company known as Aymond Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Laverne was past president of the Alexandria Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (PHCCA). He was a deacon at Riverview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward Aymond and Lou Baker Aymond, maternal grandparents, Martin Penn and Laura Goff Cannon, by his father and mother Everett Edward Aymond and Tressie Cannon Aymond, his wife, Gay Watson Aymond and his great granddaughter, Jordyn Barnes.
Laverne is survived by his four children, Gregory Aymond, Donald Aymond and his wife, Susan, Sharon Aymond Lowery and her husband, Jim and Paula Aymond Barnes and her husband, Paul, four grandsons, two step granddaughters, five great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Riverview Baptist Church, 8705 Highway 1 S, Alexandria 71301.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Chenevert, John Aymond, Mike Cannon, Keith Cannon, Ricky McAllister and Darrell Bebee. Honorary Pallbearers will be T.J. Williams, Ronnie Russo and Keith Adams.
