M.R. Bender, 53, died at 4:10 Wed. [April 10, 1946] from a stroke in Holy Family hospital. He had been in failing health for two years but had only been seriously ill since Feb. 1.
He was born Nov. 12, 1892, in Swaledale, IA., and received his education there. He had lived in Estherville nearly 30 years and was a – for the Standard Chemical Co. until he became ill. For the past year he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Erpelding.
He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge.
His wife preceded him in death two years ago. Surviving are two brothers, Gerald and Wayne, both of Champagne, Ill., and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Lewis of Champagne, Mrs. – Redington and Mrs. Charlie -- , both of Mason City. (Terril Record, Terril, IA, April 11, 1946)
