Oliver Skinner came to Geneseo with his parents from Marlborough, CT, about 1803. His three sons moved to Lake County, Illinois, around 1850, and the family farm on Lima Road in Geneseo went first to Robert and Mary (Skinner) Cully, and then Charles and Eliza (Cully) Culver.

Oliver's first wife, Mary Sprague, is linked below. She bore him four children and died at age 62.

Deacon Oliver Skinner married, second, in 1852 (at age 66), the 37 year old widow, Francis "Fanny" (Bristol) Howard, born in probably Lima, NY, in 1815, and who died probably in Wisconsin, after 1880, by whom he had one daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Skinner (1853-1931).
