Louis Aikin, one of the most prominent retired farmers of the county passed away yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock at his home near St. Louis Crossing following a week's serious illness of a complication of disease.

Mr. Aikin was 67 years old, and although he had been in failing health for some time, his condition did not become alarming until a week ago when he was taken to his bed. Mr. Aikin was a life long resident of this county, having been born and reared on the farm where he died. He engaged in farming throughout his life and was known throughout the county. He was an active member of the Christian Church and was a most highly esteemed man. In politics, Mr. Aikin was a Republican, having been a staunch supporter of the part all his life.

Besides the widow, seven children survive. They are Dan Aikin of Randolph County; Frank Aikin who is located in the west; James W. Aikin of Rush County; Will A Aikin and Virginia Aikin at home; Mrs. Charles Ross of Flatrock, and Mrs. George Slusher of north of Columbus. There is also one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McQueen of Richmond.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the Hawpatch Christian Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. H. Book. Burial in Flatrock Cemetery. No flowers.
