Born in Inman, SC, on Friday, March 3, 1916, he was the son of Arthur Garfield Bass (1882-1958) and Mary (Roper) Bass (1891-1969). He was the husband of Hazel (Matheson) Bass.
He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Bass served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Nancy L. Ward; one son, Samuel K. Bass; one sister, Nell B. Cooper; one brother, Furman C. Bass; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Freida B. Mosley and a grandson.
Graveside services were held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, May 23, 2002, with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Inman, SC.
