Sofia Abeyta Cordova, age 89, passed away April 15, 1991 in a Sandy hospital.
She was born June 1, 1901 to Francisquita and Abelino Abeyta, in Chamisal, New Mexico. She married Tranquilino Cordova, September 24, 1919 in Chamisal, New Mexico; he preceded her in death July 2, 1970.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Ida) Cambron, West Jordan; Mrs. Arthur (Neva) Marquez, Las Vegas, New Mexico; Mrs. Raymond (Connie) Duran, West Jordan; Mrs. James (Frances) Armijo, Westminster, Colorado; five sons and their spouses, Fidolino and Mary Cordova, Kearns; Jose and Francis Cordova, Tooele; Ernesto and Matilda Cordova, Kearns; Tranquilino Cordova Jr., Santa Fe, New Mexico; Roy and Helen Cordova, Kearns; Mrs. Abelino Cordova, Rodarte, New Mexico; 37 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Horacio (infant), Benito (Korean War), and Abelino, most recently, who succombed to cancer.
She was beloved by her family and all who knew her. She was a gentle soul and a true believer in Christ. Her favorite and only reading was the Bible and one of her many favorite scriptures from the Bible was in Phillipians 1:21, ''For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.'' He will raise her up on eagles wings, bear her on he breath of dawn, make her to shine like the sun, and hold her in the palm of his hand.
Funeral services 10 a.m., April 19, St. Therese Catholic Church in Midvale. Viewing April 18, 6-8 p.m. at the Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, with the holy rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial, Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
