Frances was born Dorothy Frances Rowe to Thomas Miley Rowe Sr and Julia Dickinson Parker in Portsmouth VA. She always went by her middle name Frances.

She first married Luit Willard Louis Higginbotham. They had 4 sons together before he passed in 1955, after which she remarried to Glen Dale Adams. They had 2 sons together and remained married until her passing in 2005.

Frances Rowe Higginbotham Adams, 77, a dietitian and real estate broker, died of cancer Jan. 2 at her home in Chantilly.

Mrs. Adams was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, and received a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary. She worked as chief dietitian for DePaul General and Leigh Memorial Hospitals in Norfolk and Portsmouth General Hospital from 1955 to 1959. She then moved to New Jersey, where she was on the Absecon Board of Education, worked with the American Association of University Women and was former president of the Florence Crittenton Home in Atlantic City.
She had lived in Northern Virginia since 1974 and worked as a broker for Century 21 realty in Chantilly and Fairfax City for 10 years.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the Northern Virginia Dietetic Association, St. Timothy Church of Chantilly and Oak Marr Recreation Center in Oakton.

Her first husband, Coast Guard Lt. W. L. Higginbotham, died in 1955. A son, William Higginbotham, died in 1989.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Glen D. Adams of Chantilly; three sons from her first marriage, Robert L. Higginbotham of Huntsville, Ala., Thomas M. Higginbotham of Linden and Steven W. Higginbotham of Chantilly; two sons from her second marriage, Dr. Larry Adams of Philipsburg, Pa., and Daniel S. Adams of Piney Flats, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren.
