04/26/06 - Mrs. Laurette West Baird, 86, of Wrightsville died Wednesday, April 26. Mrs. West was born in Johnson County and was preceded in death by her parents, William Melvin and Marie Clyde Smith West, her husband, Erskine Woodrow Baird, and a son, David McIntosh. Survivors include 3 granddaughters, Leila McIntosh, Atlanta; Katherine (Newt), Frost, Wrightsville; Sandra (Charles) Crites, Orlando, FL; 4 great-grandchildren, Scott (Nicki) Fisher, Wrightsville; Shelly (Matt) Rivers, Valdosta; Crystal Mefford, Douglas Stevens, USAF; Middle East; 6 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held in Rehoboth Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Friday, April 28, with the Rev. James Willis officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Wrightsville, with Sammons Funeral Home, Soperton, in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and may be reached at the home of Scott and Nicki Fisher, 107 Chester Dr., Wrightsville. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church, c/o Mrs. Virginia Willis, 41 Azalea Trail, Swainsboro, GA 30401.
