Gilbert Louis Bennett, 56, long-time resident of Galena Park, passed peacefully from this life on July 11, 2011. Gilbert was born September 25, 1954 in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from Galena Park High School in 1974 and served in the U.S. Air Force as a security policeman from 1979 to 1984. Gilbert is survived by his parents, William & Domatila Bennett; and by brothers & sisters, William Bennett, Jr. & wife, Regina; Linda Sullivan & husband, Jerry; Michael Bennett & wife, Gloria; Elizabeth Mikeska & husband, Paul; Jane Pearce & husband, Gary; and James Bennett & wife, Patricia; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A memorial visitation and rosary will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 starting at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 at Carter Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will be recited Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Church (time pending). There will be an inurnment service Monday, July 25, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
