MOS: 11D40 Armor Reconnaissance Specialist.

Richard had served at various Army posts before being sent to Vietnam.
Arriving in Vietnam 1 August 1967, Richard was assigned to A Troop, 3rd Squadron, 15th Calvary, 9th Calvary Division, USARV.
During Operation Kitty Hawk A Troop was on enroute to Bien Hoa in the vicinity of Dong Lach and 16 kilometers southeast of Bien Hoa City, when A Troop was engaged by heavily unknown size Vie Cong force. Richard died as a result of a gunshot wound to the body from small arms fire while engaged against hostile forces.
SSgt Jackson served his country for 12 years.
Survived by his wife, Roberta R Jackson and his daughter and son of 4716 Norton Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri, and his mother; Lee E McFarlin of 3904 East 72nd Street, Kansas City, Missouri, and his father; Henry Jackson of Littlerock, California.
