Loretto Kyle Alegria is accused of beating and stabbing Rhia Almeida to death in June 2009 when she came to his house to visit his little brother. Rhia Almeida was a happy child who was enjoying her summer. She went to a friend's house in search of a playmate. She had gone there often, usually with her brothers. This time she was alone. Her friend wasn't home, but his older brother Little Loretto was.

The 21-year-old has a history of mental health issues and has been on periodic suicide watch at the Pima County jail since his arrest.

Rhia came to Ajo from Kaka Village with her family in 2008 and began attending school in Ajo. A first grader, she was attending summer school and getting ready to start second grade in the fall. Rhia loved school and was enjoying summer school and adored her older brothers.

Rhia is survived by her mother & stepfather, Elayne Gregg and Antonio Ortiz of Ajo, her father, Jesse Almeida Sr of Gilbert; her brothers, Jess Almeida (10), Julian Almeida (9) and Roman Ortiz (1), all of Ajo.

She is also survived by her aunts, Jocelyn Gregg & Erin Gregg, both of Sacaton; her uncles, John Gregg of Sacaton, Trevor Rubio of Florence and Isaac Fontes of Gilbert; her grandparents, Olivia Antone of Florence, Patrick Rubio of Florence, Irene Almeida of Gilbert, and James Gregg Jr of Casa Grande; her great-grandparents, Laura Sam, Agnes & James Gregg and Robert Sam all of Kaka Village.
