Elmo Rasmussen, 92, of Twin Falls, passed away peacefully Friday, July 8, 2011, with his family at his side.

Elmo was born in Declo, Idaho, to Jens Edward Rasmussen and Sarah Jane Darrington on May 11, 1919. In 1939, Elmo and Josie Udy were married and had four children, Darhl, Elmo, Kara and Roland. They were later divorced and Elmo married Faye Spencer on Nov. 23, 1963. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had three children, Shane, Pamela and Elisha. As a young man, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Copenhagen, Denmark, and served honorably in the United States Army during World War II.

Elmo was a farmer in Oakley and Richfield for most of his life until moving to Wyoming, where he worked eight years for FMC before retiring. He often talked fondly of his younger years riding horses and working on the farm. Elmo was a man of integrity who loved to work and loved his family and he will be greatly missed.

Elmo's family would like to thank the staff at Twin Falls Care Center and Visions Hospice for providing him with comfort and compassion at the end of his life.

Elmo is survived by his wife, Faye of Twin Falls; son, Shane (Tammy) Rasmussen of Twin Falls; daughter, Pamela (Keith) Farr of Mesa, Ariz.; daughter, Elisha (Ernesto) Figueroa of Eagle; and daughter, Kara (Alex) Gordon of Boise; as well as 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (June) of Burley; and Lady, his faithful dog. Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, Jens and Sarah; siblings, Joel, Ralph, Floyd and Roberta; and children, Darhl, Elmo and Roland.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 229 Park Ave. in Twin Falls. A graveside service will be held later that day at 3 p.m. at the Richfield Cemetery in Richfield, Idaho.
