Mrs Gertrude Schatz Budewitz, of 204 S. 4th Street, widow of Edwin L. Budewitz, passed away at 1 o'clock this morning at Watertown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs Budewitz was born in Watertown, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs O.W. Schatz. She was a lifelong resident of the city and was a graduate of Watertown High School.
Mrs Budewitz was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ and was active in parish work. She had been church clerk for many years and was a former member of the choir and a former teacher in the Sunday School.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Lorriane Schatz of Watertown, and Mrs Helen Sobey, Milwaukee, as well as one brother, Herbert F. Schatz of Watertown.
Mrs Budewitz had a wide circle of friends in the community. She had a pleasing personality and a winning smile which endeared her to friends and acquaintances and made her welcome everywhere.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Schmutzler Funeral Home. The Rev Stephen C. Evans of the Congregational Church will officiate. Interment will be in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery.
