Captain Edward Eloi Friloux, Sr.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro, LA for Edward Eloi Friloux, Sr., age 69, who passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Domingue, pastor of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Leonville, LA will officiate at the services.
Mr. Friloux was a native of New Orleans, LA. He resided in Mississippi until he settled in Lafayette in 1985. He was employed as a Captain with the New Orleans Fire Department and was one of the first EMTs to be employed there.
Mr. Friloux was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro and was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, St. Peter's Council. He was a member of numerous organizations, including the Knights of Southern Cross of New Zealand, the Military Order of Stars and Bars, Sons of the American Revolution, National Geological Society, National Rifle Association, Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Order of Granaderos y Samas de Galvez, the Society of the War of 1812 and the Society of the Founders of the City of New Orleans.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Lois Guarisco Friloux of Carencro; three sons: Edward E. Friloux, Jr. and his wife, Tanya of Broussard, LA, Commander Steven F. Friloux, USN and his wife, Laura of Tomball, TX, and Lt. Colonel Thomas C. Friloux, Lang and his wife, Laurie of Carencro; and eight grandchildren: Madison C. Friloux, Dylan G. Friloux, Mark W. Friloux, Steven Paul F. Friloux, Zachary T. Friloux, Emily R. Friloux, Owen A. Friloux and Nicholas Friloux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Adolph Friloux, Sr. and the former Inez Anna Sicard; one brother, Louis A. Friloux, Jr.; and one sister, Inez A. Friloux.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 AM Saturday until service time on Saturday.

Ed said he was not the "Chief", but for all intent and purposes he filled the position from the departments inception until April 1985. His successor was Chief D.
