RITES IN CITY ARE SET FOR MRS. BOYD, 81

NOTED SINGER, HEAD OF CHARITY CLUB DIES IN EAST

Mrs. Elizabeth Collins Boyd, 81, of Pawtucket, R. 1, died today in that city.

She was born Aug. 21, 1884, in Berlin, the daughter of William and Adelaide Thomas Collins, a pioneer family. She was married to Franklin A. Boyd Oct. 9, 1912. Mrs. Boyd moved to Fond du Lac in 1893, was educated in the city schools and graduated from Northwestern University School of Music in 1904.

She had sung under the direction of Dean Peter Ludtkin at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, was a longtime board member of the Fond du lac Relief Society, serving as president in 1935, was a past president and secretary of the Charity Club, member of P.E.O. and while she lived in Winnebago Park in 1959, she wrote the history of the association.

A member of the Plymouth United Church of Christ, she had directed the beginners’ department and was organist for the church. Following the death of her husband, she was affiliated with the Morgan Park Military Academy Music School and had charge of the out-of-print book department at Brentano’s N. Y., retiring in 1947.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Tyler B. Davis, of Pawtucket, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1936. Before his death he was president of the Commercial national Bank.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Candlish Chapel and from 11 a.m. Monday at the Plymouth United Church of Christ until the 1 p.m. funeral service, Rev. Frederick C. Stroebel officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Boyd, who died Friday, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Plymouth United Church of Christ, Rev. Frederick C. Stroebel officiating.

Mrs. Oscar Hassman was organist for the service. Honorary pallbearers were William A. Sanders, Alfred Sutherland, Roger Sutherland, Omar J. Kussow, and Armin Mauthe.

Pallbearers were Maurice West, Michael Sparka, William Spiekman and James Hersey. Burial was in Rienzi Cemetery.
