Eva was born April 1, 1865 at Eureka, daughter of Geroge and Katherine Kief. George born August 3, 1933, wed Katherine Magdaline Snaufer born August 27, 1844 at Württemberg, Germany on June 2, 1864. Katherine came to the United States at the age of 6 years old. Both of her parents died on the trip over and were buried at sea. She was raised by persons other than family. Their identity is not known but they saw toi it that she had a good education. It is also not known if Snaufeer was her family or the family that raised her.


She married Carl (Karl) Knoll in Eureka, IL on Jan. 1, 1883. They had 14 children:

They farmed in Woodford Co. near Secor until 1894 when they moved their family to Vermilion Co. to a farm southwest of Rankin, IL. The land remained in the family and became a Centennial Farm in 1993.

Several of her children's graves do not appear in local cemeteries. They too may have been cremated.
