R J Carpenter Funeral Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, Oct 30th, at 2 o'clock
from the chapel of Adams Funeral Home for R J Carpenter, 74, who died
at his home, 802 Foster Street in Marlin at 7 o'clock, Oct 28th.
The deceased was born in Mississippi, March 17, 1871, he came to Texas
when very young and settled in the vicinity of Lufkin. Later he moved to
Falls County where he has lived over 50 years. During the time he engaged in
farming and for years was popularly known here for this house moving activities
and construction work. He had been in ill health for sometime. Mr Carpenter was
married twice, his first wife died about 11 years ago. He later married Mrs Georgia
Carpenter, who survives.
Funeral services here Tuesday will be conducted by Rev W O Wright, assisted by
Rev W W Lowrie. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery, east of Marlin.
Surviving besides his widow are one son, Lee Carpenter of Nolan, Texas and a
daughter, Mrs B A Shelton, Hammond. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers; M H McCord, Chesley Bridgewater, Stacey Sikes, S J Peters,
Carl Vinson, Barney Cook.
