First Anglican Bishop of Minnesota and a friend to the Sioux Indians, many of whom were spared being hanged after the great uprising of 1862 through the Bishop's intercession with Abraham Lincoln. His crypt is directly below the high altar in the Cathedral of Our Merciful Savior in Faribault, Minnesota. Author of "Lights and Shadows of a Long Episcopate" and founder of Shattuck School and St. Mary's Hall.
