JOHN CARTER DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
John R. Carter, 68, widely known Union Township farmer, died at 6:20 AM Thursday at Ball Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in union Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Carter, both deceased. He was a charter member of the Union Township Farm Bureau and attended Eaton Methodist Church.
The family home was southwest of Eaton on RR 1, Gaston, for many years. Recently the family moved to 1000 Dunn St. in Muncie.
Surviving are his wife, Mary; a daughter, Miss Linda Faye Carter, at home; a brother, Watson Carter, RR 1, Muncie; two sisters, Mrs. Murray Peterson, RR 1, Muncie, and Mrs. Earl Snider, RR 1, Hartford City; four grandchildren, Mrs. Richard Braun, Muncie, Mrs. Creighton Edwards, Union City, Jack Carter, Albany and Kenneth E. Carter, Muncie; and six great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Richard was the son of Ellsworth and Edna (Craw) Carter. He married Ruth Taylor, daughter of Edmund and Inez (Lambert) Taylor on January 25, 1913 in Delaware County, Indiana. Richard and Ruth had one child, Kenneth Eugene Carter. Richard and Ruth divorced.

Richard married Mary Taylor, daughter of Edmund and Inez (Lambert) Taylor on March 20, 1926 in Muncie, Delaware County, Indiana. Richard and Mary had one child, Linda Carter.

A descendant of Isaac P. Carter. In appreciation of Howard Carter.
