My mother. The first feminist of her kind, really. She was born in McCurtain County and when she was 17, moved to work in Midwest City at TAFB. Got married then had me, then divorced. Whereas my father never contacted or talked to me, my mother was in my life every single day. She loved me, her grandchildren (Scott and Erin), and her 2 great-grandchildren (Jaxton and Maddi). Diagnosed in 2006 with terminal pulmonary fibrosis, for which there is no cure. Slowly deteriorated over the 5 years. I moved in with her in 2006 to take care of her. I was right in front of her when she died. I was the last person she saw when she died. I will miss her very much.
