Nora Melissa Reyer, daughter of Newton and Delia Reyer was born at Athens, Alabama, March 26, 1906 and departed this life June 2, 1938 at the age of 32 years, two months and six days. She spent most of her life in Alabama near the place of her birth. She was united in marriage to Bee Barnes, September 19, 1925. To this union four children were born. She came with her family to Almena, Kansas April 11, 1938 and passed away Thursday, June 2 in the Norton hospital.

Besides her husband she is survived by four sons, Charles, age 11 years, Billy, age five years, Eddie, age three years and Otha Lee, age one month. Also seven brothers and two sisters, William, Arthur and Otha Reyer and Mrs. Ida Hill and Mrs. Nellie Smith, all of Almena; Alvie of Rosedale, Mississippi, Othie and Erskin of Arkansas and Arie of Athens, AL. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted at three o'clock Monday afternoon at the Church of God in Almena with Rev. J.D. McDaniel in charge. A quartet composed of Miss Ruby Cozad, Miss Pauline Cozad, Herbert DeYoung and Clifford Price with Mrs. Merlin Perkins at the piano sang "Sweet Bye and Bye", "Near My God to Thee" and "God will Take Care of You."

Rev. McDaniel took as his text the words of the master in John 9:4. "I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day for the night cometh when no man can work."

Casket bearers were Walter Miner, Ralph Dixon, Elza Loughry, Clifford Price, Herbert DeYoung and Curt Darnell.

Mr. Barnes and sons left on No. 8 Monday evening to accompany the body to Ardmore, Alabama for burial.
