Ellen Maria Thomas was the daughter of Jabez and 3rd wife Phoebe(Shurtleff)Peterson of Duxbury, MA. She married George Herbert Thomas, a farmer from Brant Rock, on Mar 26, 1879 in Duxbury. George inherited the Thomas farm on Chickataubut Ave in Marshfield. They had three children: William (Willy) who died in infancy and is buried at Cedar Grove in the family plot; Edith, and Mary Abigail. Mary married Leon Stetson and both she and Leon are buried in Cedar Grove. Edith married first Charles Durling and had two sons, Charles and (unkn), both of whom married but had no children. Edith divorced Durling and marr second Bert Rich of Duxbury.
