ENSELL, Russell E., Sr., 84, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Rockledge, Fla.
He was born February 1, 1927, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late John and Florence Slater Ensell.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother, Jack and his wife, Virginia Ensell; sister, Minnie Ensell Faunda; uncle, William Slater; and sister-in-law, Agnes Marie Pergi, who died at infancy.
Russ served his country in WWII as part of the United States Army. He was a retired electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 246 for 67 years in Steubenville, Ohio. He was a very active member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and The Community of God's Love. He served as a volunteer at the Daily Bread serving the homeless. He loved his wife, family and his faith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Teresa Pergi Ensell of Melbourne, Fla.; children, Russell E. (Janet) Ensell Jr. of Melbourne, Fla., John (Judy) Ensell of Melbourne, Fla., Rosemarie (Richard) Bell of Mingo Junction and Paul (Lisa) Ensell of Mingo Junction; brother, Robert (Marge) Ensell of Columbiana, Ohio; aunt, Mary Slater of Steubenville; uncle, Paul (Doretha) Slater of Florida; 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many much loved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 1 p.m in Florida today.
Friends will be received at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 685 Canton Road, Wintersville, on Friday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Name Cathedral with Father Timothy Shannon celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary, Steubenville with full military honors.
