US Congressman. He studied theology at the Wesleyan University, Connecticut, (1837-39) served as a minister, (1841-54) and moved to Pembroke, New Hampshire, in 1854. In 1855, he was elected as an American Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress and Thirty-fifth Congress, serving until 1859. During the Civil War, he served as Colonel in command of the 16th Regiment, New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry, Union Army. After the war, he resumed being a minister and became presiding elder of the Dover, New Hampshire, until he retired in 1886.
