Luther Barton 'Bart' Rindom, Jr.

Luther Barton 'Bart' Rindom, Jr., 83, of Atchison, KS passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Bart was born June 22, 1927 in Oskaloosa, KS the son of Luther Barton Rindom, Sr. and Gladys E. (Persons) Rindom.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Navy on July 20, 1944 and was discharged June 12, 1946. Upon his return from the Navy, Mr. Rindom graduated from Atchison High School in 1947. Bart worked in the Maintenance Department at Rockwell for 33 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6 and the Knights of Columbus. Bart was an avid sports fan and coached little league baseball. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching and woodworking. He loved making bird houses and toys for his grandchildren.
Bart married Patricia L. Eccher on June 28, 1952 in Atchison at St. Joseph's Church. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include sons, Dave (Brenda) Rindom, Lenexa, KS; Phil (Kaylene) Rindom, Atchison, KS; Tom (Amber) Rindom, Leawood, KS; Mike (Amy) Rindom, Delray Beach, FL; daughters, Teresa Rindom Bohon, Lenexa, KS; Carol (Marty) Coffman, Topeka, KS; Mary Beth (Tim) Gillock, Overland Park, KS; brother, William ‘Bill' Rindom, Olathe, KS; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church with Fr. Gerard Senecal, OSB, as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Achievement Services of Atchison or the Maur Hill Mount Academy and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
