Longtime radio broadcaster, sports commentator and our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew and friend, Frank E. Allec, 52, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011, following a brief concern with a heart infection.
Frank was born Sept. 7, 1958 in Sunnyside, the son of Emil and Josie Lee (Carpino) Allec.
Frank attended Sunnyside schools and graduated with the high school class of 1976. He later attended Spokane Falls Community College, where he received his AA Degree.
On Oct. 14, 1978 he married the love of his life, Sue Nelson in Spokane.
Frank's first job as a radio broadcaster and sports commentator was for KREW radio in Sunnyside, where he worked for around 14 years. For the next 16 years, he worked for K101.7/KZXR and The Source/KMNA.
Frank had a very distinguished voice, while turning the knob on the radio dial, you might not know the station but you knew the voice of Frank Allec. If you were listening on the radio to a basketball game on either Friday or Saturday night, Frank's play-by-play commentary made you feel like you were in the gym.
In 2007 Frank began working for Mid-Valley Chrysler Dodge Jeep as a fleet manager.
He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview and Knights of Columbus.
He was an avid softball player, enjoyed many years playing for the Lower Valley Slow Pitch League as a player/coach for multiple teams in Sunnyside. Frank also enjoyed a round of golf with friends, watching or going to the Seahawks, Mariners or the Cougars games.
Frank is survived by his wife, Sue Allec of Grandview; two sons, Gabe Allec of Sunnyside and Derek Allec of Grandview; two grandchildren, Cody Allec of New Mexico and Jayden Allec of Sunnyside; one sister, Deana Morrow Allec of Grandview; and one aunt, Gussie Allec of Yakima.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Brandon Nelson.
