U.S. Congressman. During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps, (1943-46). After the war, he graduated from Ball State University Indiana, in 1950 and attended Yale University, (1961-62). Relocating to California, he was an associate professor of political science, at Long Beach City College, (1966-75). Entering politics, he was a Lakewood City Councilman, (1966-74) and Mayor of Lakewood, (1968-70, 72-74). In 1975, he was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth and to the Ninety-fifth Congresses, serving until 1979. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he lived in retirement until his death at age 63.
