Philippine Insurrection Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the US Army in Company F, 46th Infantry, US Volunteers. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action near Taal, Luzon, Philippine Islands on January 18, 1900. His citation reads "Under heavy fire of the enemy he rescued a dying comrade who was sinking beneath the water."
