Clarance Donald McGhghy ,75, son of Robert and Leona(Reeh) McGhghy was born Nov. 4, 1931 at Kearney. He died Aug. 28, 2007 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron.

The family moved to Superior in 1945 and Clarance graduated from high school in 1949. In 1951 they moved to Davenport and he was married April 5, 1953 to Mildred Bethke at St. Peters Church in Davenport. In June 1967, they moved to Hebron.

To this union two sons were born.

Clarance was a mechanic for many years and did part-time work in his own shop. He worked for Thayer County Department of Roads approximately 25 years as a heavy equipment
operator.

His main hobby was flying. He received his pilot's license in 1969.
He belonged to the Blue Valley Flying Club and, also to Air Life Line, which he was an active member for several years.

Clarance was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensau(rural Hebron) and Hebron Lion's Club more
than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Hugh, and daughter-in-law Patty McGhghy.

Clarance is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Hebron; sons, Larry, Hampton and Gary, Hebron; brothers, Wayne, McGhghy of Arvada, Colo., and Reinhald McGhghy, Fountain Inn, S.C.

Services were held Sept. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau.

Casket bearers were Jason McGhghy, Thomas McGhghy, Garren
Stenka, Jordan Harms, Jamon Harms and Justus Harms.

Honorary casket bearers were Andrew McGhghy, Michelle Stenka, Kaylie McGhghy, Amber McGhghy, Marlow Huber, Joe Hergott, Sr., Chris Huber, Duane Vorderstrasse and Don
Engel.
Burial was in the Hebron City Cemetery.

Clarance Donald McGhghy, son of Robert and Leona (Reeh) McGhghy was born November 4, 1931 at Kearney, NE. He departed this life Tuesday August 28, 2007 at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE at the age of 75.

He was baptized November 18, 1931 and confirmed May 20, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Ne by Pastor E. Potratz.

The family moved to Superior in 1945 and Clarance graduated from High School in 1949. In 1951 they moved to Davenport and he was married April 5, 1953 to Mildred Bethke at St. Peters Church in Davenport, NE. In June 1967, they moved to Hebron, NE. To this union, 2 sons were born.

Clarance was a mechanic for many years and did part time work in his own shop. He worked for Thayer County Dept. of Roads about 25 years as a heavy equipment operator. His main hobby was flying which he dearly loved and said he wanted to be a pilot from a young child and finally succeeded after moving to Hebron where he was able to take lessons. He received his pilot’s license in 1969. He belonged to the Blue Valley Flying Club and also to Air Life Line, which he was an active member for several years. Clarance and Mildred enjoyed spending time with their special friends, Don and Wilma Engles especially square dancing and camping.

Clarance was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Friedensaun, NE (rural Hebron), Hebron Lion’s Club for over 20 years, working hard for the sight and hearing programs. He was able to help many kids receive glasses and hearing aids. Clarance is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Hugh, daughter-in-law Patty McGhghy.

Clarance is survived by his wife Mildred McGhghy of Hebron, NE, two sons Larry and Sheri of Hampton, NE, and Gary and Sue of Hebron, NE, two brothers Wayne McGhghy and wife Grace of Arvada, CO, and Reinhald McGhghy of Fountain Inn, SC, sister-in-laws; Ruth McGhghy of Greeley, CO, Hertha Bethke and Lorene Bethke both of Davenport, NE Grandchildren are Jason McGhghy of Hampton, NE Michelle Stenka and Garren of Henderson, NE, Andrew McGhghy of Hebron, NE, Thomas McGhghy and Amber of Lincoln, NE, Kaylie McGhghy of Hebron, NE. 4 Great-grandchildren Paul and Averi Stenka, Jaymes Glaze, Ethanel McGhghy, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday, September, 1, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church Friedensau, NE(rural Hebron) Officiant is Reverend Richard Kelm. Visitation will be Friday, from 9 AM to 7 PM at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home. Organist will be Lois Pohlmann, soloist Tina Reed singing “God Knew Your Name”, and “The Old Rugged Cross”, congregational hymns “Nearer My God To Thee”, and “How Great Thou Art’. Casket Bearers; Jason McGhghy, Thomas McGhghy, Garren Stenka, Jordan Harms, Jamon Harms, Justus Harms. Honorary casket bearers; Andrew McGhghy, Michelle Stenka, Kaylie McGhghy, Amber McGhghy, Marlow Huber, Joe Hergott, Sr., Chris Huber, Duane Vorderstrasse, Don Engel. Burial will be in the Hebron City Cemetery. Hebron Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials in care of the family.
