Dick graduated from Mountain State Business College and worked for the State of West Virginia, Insurance Department, as an examiner. Dick is a descendant of Henry Howland who came to this country in 1621, a brother of John Howland who was a passenger on the Mayflower in 1620.

George R. Cochran, 71, of 819 Echo Rd., Charleston, died Monday, March 24, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was an insurance examiner, a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Pro Bowlers Association.

Surviving are his wife, Mazie Sims Cochran, a native of Wirt County; a daughter, Patricia Bryan, of South Charleston; a sister, Lucille Martin, of Ripley; and one granddaughter.

Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday in Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with the Rev. Charles Hornick officiating, and entombment was in Tyler Mountain Mausoleum.
