Richard Neil Chapman passed away at the UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was the son of Elvin James and Ida Pearl (Goodman) Chapman of rural Clinton, AR. The family moved to Wichita, KS in 1943 and Neil attended Andover High School. He joined the army in 1961 and served in Vietnam for a year as a radio operator.

After the army he met and married Joyce Porter in Fort Smith, AR on June 19, 1965. He worked for the highway department from 1970 to 1978, for Van Buren County Sheriff's Office from 1979 to 1995.

While in the sheriff's office he worked for the U. S. Postal Service from 1983 until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce Porter Chapman of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Sylvia Chapman of Rupert, ID and Roddie and Christie Chapman of Enola, AR; two daughters LaDonna of Clinton, AR and Kandi of the home.

His parents, Elvin and Ida Pearl Chapman of Clinton, AR; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Pat Chapman of Lockhart, TX, Dwayne and Sarah Chapman of Greenbrier, AR and Roger and Sherry Chapman of Choctaw, AR; one sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Harrell Mauldin of Quitman, AR; three grandchildren, Ryan Tyler, Riley Walker and Hannah Corin Chapman of Enola, AR.

Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Mamie Porter of Fort Smith, AR, a brother-in-law, Scott Porter of Fort Smith a sister-in-law, Patricia and Larry Moidl of Cleveland, MO; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, with burial at Bluffton Cemetery in Botkinburg, AR.
