Funeral serves were held Friday at Baker Funeral Chapel for Charles Owen Broer,
who died Wednesday at his home here. Rev. M.T. Jenkins officiated.
A choir sang three hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross." "What a Friend We Have in
Jesus" and "My Faith Looks Up To Thee." Rev. Jenkins read a scripture from I
Corinthians and spoke on the brevity of life and certainty of eternity. Burial
was at the IOOF cemetery, where Rev. Paul Carleton, pastor of the Cost Baptist
Church, read a scripture.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josie Broer; a brother, John Broer of Waco;
and a sister, Mrs. Dora Hancock of Rising Star.
Mr. Broer was born in Gonzales County August 22, 1882, and resided here most of
his life. He was a painter and paper hanger by trade. He was a member of his
Christian church.
Pallbearers were Orville Herrington, Jim Mills, Bill Flynn, Eddie Lane, R.B.
Bradbury and B. Duncan Davis.
