Joseph Floyd "Joe" Dixon, 84, of Wichita, formerly of Cherokee County, retired construction crane operator, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002.

Son of Francis E. and Emma P. King Dixon.

Husband of Earline Dixon.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Earline,; son, Gary of Sparks, Nev.; foster daughter Betty Smith of Wichita; brother, Raymond of Galena; sisters, Bonnie Randall of Muskogee, Okla., Betty Coffman of Riverton; eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Wayne and Francis Junior Dixon.
