Mandana Townsend parents were Epenitus Townsend and Polly Stoughton of Putnam, Muskingum Co. Ohio and Hamilton Co., OH. Ref. Book Townsend A Memorial of John, Henry, and Richard Townsend and their Descendants 1865 (Reprint 1969) pg.200.
She married 4 Feb. 1836 Hamilton Co., Ohio William Foster. His parents names unknown b.@1817-1818 New York City, New York or Virginia or Wheeling, Ohio Co., West Virginia.
I believe he was an engineer on river boats. Lived along the
Ohio River and Mississippi River in Oquawka, Henderson Co., IL. Later was house painter.

Mandana had 5 children before her early death.

OBITUARY OQUAWKA SPECTATOR
FEBRUARY 20, 1857
DIED---In Oquawka, on Monday last, Mrs. Mandany, wife of
Mr. William Foster, Aged 37 years. (date of death would have been 16 Feb. 1857)

Mandana Townsend Foster buried Old section of Oquawka Cemetery in Plot 194 no tombstone found. Husband William Foster bought her plot. When he died in 1879 his daughter Cora Foster McMullen (daughter from 2nd marriage to Elizabeth Ellen Lathrop) bought his plot probably for her mother Elizabeth Ellen Lathrop Foster. Burials in Oquawka Cemetery started in 1834. Only names of people that bought plots were listed. No index to burials as per Ron Chapin Historian of cemetery.
