The Weston Democrat, Lewis Co., WV, Fri. 11 Dec. 1908:
JOHN S. SUMMERS - Born in Lewis county Feb. 27, 1834, died Nov. 26, 1908, at home of Mr. R. M. Linger, Senawee county, MI. One of a family of eleven children, all preceded him in death except one younger brother. In 1858, he married Artemis Clark, who died June 1878. Had four children, three daughters and one son, all of whom are now living in West Virginia. In Oct. 1879, he married Mrs. Amy Yoke, who survives. He served in the civil war. Mr. Summers and wife have made their home with Mrs. Summer's daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Linger, for the last twelve years. They moved to Adrian, Michigan in April 1903.
