Ada Lee Whitley Hamm 87, was born in St. Louis Missouri to Andrew Lily Whitley 1825 – 1877 and Mary Attway Robards 1833 – 1904. She was the great grand-daughter of Col. William Whitley of Kentucky, and a Revoltionary War Soldier and owner of the famed Whitney House which is near Crab Orchard, Central Kentucky. The red brick house is now a Kentucky State Park and Museum.

Ada Lee Whitley married Benjamin Edminster in 1891 in St. Louis, Missouri, Benjamin died in May 1912 and Ada then married Robert Messing Dec 1912 in Missouri, Robert died in 1941 and in 1950 Ada married Elijah Hamm and remained married until her death in 1956.
