SALEM - Lorene Dahlberg, age 76, died at home on Monday, May 30, 2011. She was surrounded by family and friends as she lost her 5 year battle with multiple myeloma. Lorene was born September 17, 1934 in Salem, Oregon, the daughter of Lawrence and Ethel Edwards. She was raised in Turner and graduated from Cascade High School. Lorene earned her bachelor's degree at Seattle Pacific University and completed a master's degree in education at Boise State University. For 35 years, her teaching skills along with high expectations and determination touched the lives of many students. In addition to her career, she has been actively involved in organizations that include Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Salem Hospital. She was a lady of compassion and lived her life with grace and dignity.

Lorene is survived by John, her husband of 27 years, step-daughters, Janie Farmer and Nancy Beacham, step-son, Andy Dahlberg, sister, Geraldine Stook, brother, Lawrence Edwards, Jr., nieces, Debra Stook and Karen Skoog and nephew, Ron Stook, 6 great nieces and nephews, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1770 Baxter Road SE, Salem, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dahlberg Family Fund@Salem Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 14001 Salem, Oregon, 97309-5014. Private interment at City View Cemetery under the direction of City View Funeral Home.
