CARENCRO -Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Irene Meche Broussard, age 74, the former Irene Prejean, who passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Broussard was a native of Church Point and a resident of Vatican for most of her life. She was employed with Montgomery Wards as a credit manager for 33 years. She was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton.
Survivors include three sons, Carrol Meche and his wife, Dorothy, and Tracy Meche, all of Carencro, Danny Meche and his wife, Pamela, of Vatican; six grandchildren, Jodi M. Landry and her husband, Seth, and Skylar Meche, all of Scott; Jana M. Burst and her husband, Roy, of New Orleans, Jaci Meche and Eric Meche, both of Carencro, and Amber Meche, of Gainesville, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxile Prejean and the former Ovelia Courville; her first husband, Eric Meche; and her second husband, Bert Broussard.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 North University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
