Sylvia Cordova Camarillo, a lifelong resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in the Acuity Hospital of South Texas in San Antonio at the age of 55 years and 10 days.
Sylvia was born Sept. 9, 1954, in Floresville, the daughter of Ester Silva and Rudolfo A. Cordova Jr.
She graduated from Floresville High School, the class of 1974, and was a clerk with the San Antonio State Hospital for many years before retiring in 2006. Sylvia married Jimmy Camarillo in March 1980. She enjoyed playing bingo and gambling.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband of more than 29 years, Jimmy Camarillo; her son, Jimmy Camarillo Jr.; her daughter, Nicole Camarillo and spouse Lupe Serna; her mother, Ester Cordova; her brothers, Sam Cordova and wife Mary, Jimmy Cordova and wife Gerda, and David Cordova and wife Karen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, and a rosary was recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Chapel in Floresville.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Father Phillip Henning.
Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Floresville.
Serving as pallbearers were Sylvia's brothers, Sam Cordova, Jimmy Cordova, and David Cordova; her son-in-law, Lupe Serna; and her nephews, Esteven Cordova and Anthony Cordova.
