Our beloved Jodee was born October 8, 1933 in Hollywood, California to H. Donovan Allen and Virginia Woodsen Allen Griffin. Jodee died May 29, 2011 of spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Jodee was a rare, strong, intelligent, and humorous woman. A talented musician, artist, and voracious reader. Jodee was a past member of the Tabernacle Choir and Schubert Singers, and dearly loved singing under the direction of her husband and father-in-law, Allen Spencer Cornwall and J. Spencer Cornwall.

Jodee married the love of her life, Allen Spencer Cornwall, on June 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised four children: Debbie C. (Dean) Peters, Denise C. (Michael) Farrington, Diane C. (Mark) Ebert, and Allen S. Cornwall, Jr. (Lisa). Jodee also dearly loved her seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Allen and her brother Robert Allen.

Joanne faced these past four years fighting cancer with positiveness, wit and determination for life. She taught her children and grandchildren many lessons about facing adversity with humor.

We are forever grateful for the many kindnesses and skillful treatment of Dr. Scott Hacking (cardiologist), Dr. Karen Zempolich (cancer surgeon), Dr. Greg Miller (pain management), Jan (her special R.N.), and Ashley (her sweet aide) among many others. Special thanks to all of her friends and ward members at Silver Pines for their love, concern, and prayers at this time.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), where viewings will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
