Mrs. W. E. Coates, 76, died yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. R. L. Lenard, 14 miles southwest of here in ward nine. Mrs. Coates, who had resided in ward nine for the past five years, had been in failing health for the past five months.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lenard; four sons, Bob Coates of near Columbia, W. H. Coates of Forest, G. E. Coates of Camden, Ark., and Bennett Coates of Prescott, Ark.; and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete last night in respect to the time of the services which are expected to be held at the Fellowship cemetery near Columbia with Rev. E. L. Tanner, pastor of the Assembly of God church of West Monroe, officiating.

The correct DOB for Mrs. Coates is shown above. Her grave marker gives it as Jan. 10, 1860. However, she didn't appear in the 1860 census. Later records give her age as 9 yrs (1870); 19 yrs (1880). The 1900 census gives Jan. 1861.
